Why We Grow
At Nalo Farms, we believe in helping strengthen the food resilience of Hawai’i as a place. We play our part by ensuring our leafy greens are grown on O’ahu.
Sometimes ‘locally grown’ food costs more than food grown on massive mechanized farms outside of Hawai’i. That is not the case with Nalo Farms.
Every decision we make – and every action we take – ensures we can offer our leafy greens at a price no higher than greens that are shipped here from far away.
Because we grow our leafy greens using aquaponics, we introduce nothing into the land and we extract nothing from it. We are committed to be responsible custodians of the ‘aina.

At Nalo Farms, we know Food Insecurity is an issue faced daily by people of all ages in Hawai’i. We respect the Hawai’i Food Bank’s mission to Nourish Our ‘Ohana.
Through our Grow-a-Row commitment, the Nalo Farms team is proud to support the Hawai’i Food Bank’s goal of making more fresh greens available to communities across O’ahu.
We strive to provide more than 1,000 pounds of our fresh leafy greens at low or no cost to the HFB every week as they work to end hunger.
